Singer George Michael was finally laid to rest three months after his death at age 53.
The late artist's publicist confirmed that his funeral was held on Wednesday at north London's Highgate Cemetary. Karl Marx, as well as authors George Eliot and Douglas Adams, are among the famous people buried at Highgate.
The rep added the funeral was only attended by family and closed friends.
Michael's family thanked his fans for their "many messages of love and support," but did asked for their privacy to be respected at this time.
The former Wham! singer was found dead at his country home in Oxfordshire on Dec. 25. A post-mortem investigation found that Michael died of natural causes as a result of heart disease and a fatty liver. He previously battled health ailments and drug addiction.
