When the news of Hollywood's biggest couple calling it quits broke Monday, the Twitterverse erupted -- some fans sharing their feelings of disbelief while others giving a nod to Pitt's scorned ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.
While many fans celebrated for Aniston over the news, others were sad to hear the parents-of-six children are divorcing.
When you cut someone out of your life, they become part of your history. You don't care. And nobody is happy a family breaks up #brangelina— Selena (@MancSel) September 20, 2016

I'm genuinely sad about this. They seemed more than happy, and so accepting and inclusive with their kids. Sad day. #Brangelina— BrinnyWuff (@BrittColacicco) September 20, 2016
Not in the mood today to make jokes about kids parents breaking up. #brangelina— Sarah Rappaport (@SarahRapp) September 20, 2016
A lawyer for Jolie confirmed Monday the actress filed for divorce.
Pitt and Jolie married in August 2014, ten years after they first got together.
The pair infamously met on the set of their movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" while Pitt was married to actress Jennifer Aniston.
