Paul Simon took to the Democratic National Convention stage last night to perform his hit "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
A lot of fans were quick to point out that the singer's performance was, well, troubled.
So I've just caught up with the footage of Paul Simon at the DNC yesterday singing Bridge Over TW, I'm so sad for him. He looks sick. #sad— Éponine15191 (@Eponine15191) July 26, 2016
Paul Simon fan here: Paul Simon was awful tonight.— Public_Interest (@Public_Interest) July 26, 2016
I've always loved Paul Simon but that was more awful than a karaoke version of Bridge Over Troubled Water.— Mr. Cummings (@APGOPOHHS) July 26, 2016
Paul Simon singing Like a Bridge Over Troubled Water at the DNC was painful. Is the man ill? Off key with no emotion.— Regina Ferguson (@regina_ferguson) July 26, 2016
Some, however, defended Simon, noting his age.
Hey everybody, cut Paul Simon some slack on not hitting the high notes. The man's 74 years old! Your voice should be as good at that age.— Paul Waldman (@paulwaldman1) July 26, 2016
To all you saying Paul Simon can't sing...The man is 74 years old...of course his voice isn't what it used to be. Jesus Christ— Kevin Rozell (@Zellyanks) July 26, 2016
Comedian Sarah Silverman and Senator Al Franken introduced Simon.
Franken noted that because he was a Clinton backer and Silverman was with Sanders, they were forming a bridge.
"We're like a bridge over troubled water," Franken said before calling Simon to the stage.
