Michael Strahan and Kelly Ripa walked out hand-in-hand for Strahan’s last day as co-host on “Live!” Ripa glorified Strahan throughout the show, praising her co-host just weeks after she was shocked by news he was departing “Live!” to join “Good Morning America” full time. Strahan spent less time getting sentimental, and he only reciprocated Ripa’s praise quickly before the show cut to credits.

As the show closed, Strahan chimed in about his last day calling it “very bittersweet.”

“I just want to say thank you to everybody,” he said. “I didn’t know what to expect coming from sports to daytime television and you guys opened up your hearts to me and opened up your homes to me… It’s not about myself, it’s not about you [he said gesturing to Ripa], it’s about [the fans].”

Right before the show signed off, he quickly added, “Kelly you are the best. I love you baby.”

Ripa was all smiles as she walked out with Strahan and pulled out his chair for him before putting her arm around him as they sat down.

“Don’t take this as a bad sign, it’s Friday the 13th,” Kelly told the crowd. “But you said 13 is lucky,” she said to Michael.

Strahan told the crowd it was a lucky day, and he did not want a dramatic goodbye from the series.

“I’m not dying. I’m still in the family. And I’m still available to come back,” he said. “I don’t like a big to-do about it.”

Ripa quipped, “You can fill in for me,” adding she had an upcoming vacation planned. “It is your final day on the show. We all came today to celebrate you, and we want to remind the audience there is a… discount on merchandise… for these collector’s items,” she said displaying a Kelly & Michael mug with a laugh.

Strahan said the pair should simply proceed with the show as usual and they launched into their regular banter, talking about their plans from the night before and recent celebrity sightings.

A few minutes into the show, a montage aired of some Strahan's memorable moments.

“Let’s take a look back at some of the most memorable host chat moments we have had together,” Ripa said before footage aired of the two dancing around and eating disgusting flavored Jelly Beans. Strahan was also depicted rapping, high fiving Ripa and laughing.

More montages aired as the show returned from commercial breaks.

“During the past few years, we’ve had a lot of fun, we’ve made a lot of memories and we’ve even learned a thing or two about Michael Strahan. Michael, this is your life,” Ripa said before introducing a montage that showed Strahan modeling clothes, posing shirtless, sporting a wig and competing in various athletic segments. The montage included scenes from Strahan’s first day on the show.

“A lot has happened,” Strahan said after the emotional montage, holding Ripa’s hand and kissing it. The two then embraced as the show cut to commercial.

At the close of the show, Ripa gifted Strahan with a pair of bronzed high heels the former footballer wore for a Halloween costume on the show. She also gave her co-host a framed photo and a photobook.

“Look at all we did together,” Ripa said as Strahan flipped the pages of the photobook. “I just want to say on behalf of myself and all of us, we couldn’t be prouder of you... We really are so, so proud of you. We’ve achieved so much together and I look forward to watching you every morning and seeing what else you achieve.”
