Just when it seems Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are getting farther and farther away in our rearview mirror, something happens to prop them up close again.
This time, the two are back in the headlines because the Biebs posted an old photo on Instagram of himself and Gomez locking lips.
The post, which has hundreds of thousands of comments and more than 2 million “likes,” clearly baffled many.

“Is Jelena back” asked another follower.
But the most intriguing response to the photo, which the Biebs captioned “Feels,” came from the Canadian singer’s former flame herself, who wrote simply “Perfect.”
It's the second time Bieber has posted an old photo of the two. In December, he posted a photo of himself and Gomez from 2014, but did not write a caption for it.
The new picture is from 2011. They dated on and off for years before ending it – forever? – in 2014.
But the break-up hardly ended the speculation about whether the two still send each other’s heart racing.
In an interview with GQ magazine, Bieber said that he and Gomez remain good friends, calling each other on occasion and just being there if one needs the other.
"We don’t talk often, but we’re cordial," he said. "If she needs something, I’m there for her. If I need something, she’s there for me."
Gomez spoke of being less anchored when she dated him, and having her heart broken. She also later said she was tired of being asked about him.
Bieber has been dating Hailey Baldwin, while Gomez is seeing Samuel Krost, according to Us Weekly.
