Penelope Cruz Now ‘Oldest Ever Bond Girl’

Penelope Cruz is set to become the oldest Bond girl ever at the golden age of 40.

According to Yahoo, the Spanish beauty has been tapped to play James Bond’s love interest in the 24th installment of the franchise.

Cruz, who is currently pregnant with her second child with actor husband Javier Bardem, will start work on the latest unnamed Bond film next summer months after she turns the big 4-0 in April 2014.

According to a source, "the producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now."

There is also apparently no concern over whether Cruz would be able to shed the baby weight in time for filming.

"She got back into shape fast after the first baby and will no doubt regain her figure quickly this time,” the source told Yahoo.

“She’ll be a great Bond girl. Bond girls are always brainy as well as sexy, and that’s totally Penelope."

After his success with "Skyfall," which coincidentally also featured Cruz's husband Bardem, director Sam Mendes was tapped to make the final two Bond films that will star 45-year-old actor Daniel Craig in the titular role.

Once Cruz finalizes the deal, she will take the title of oldest Bond girl from British actress Honor Blackman, who was 39 when she appeared in 1962s "Goldfinger" as Pussy Galore.
