Demi Lovato has come a long way since her Disney days. With a new healthy outlook on life and sizzling singing career, Lovato is taking on her latest role as a judge on "The X Factor."
Demi Lovato’s family is a bit bigger than she thought.
“The X Factor” judge, who recently released her single “Heart Attack,” told WBLI Long Island, NY radio station while waiting at an airport that she has a half sister whom she recently spoke to for the first time.
"I have an older sister I've never known my whole life who's in her 30s," Lovato said.
"She's my half-sister, but I talked to her for the very first time in my life around when I turned 20," she added.
Lovato did not divulge whether her mother or father was her sister's parent but she did say that she pressed her older sibling about why she never got in touch with her until now.
"I asked her. I said: 'Why haven't you ever contacted me?' said Lovato.
She said her sister told her she was not reaching out to her because of her celebrity status but had “just been kind of waiting to see” if Lovato “wanted a relationship.'”
“I thought that was so incredible,” she continued. “So, I actually have three sisters."
Lovato has made headlines recently for her romantic relationship with on-again-off-again boyfriend actor Wilmer Valderrama. But she kept mum about the status of their relationship.
“I just like to keep my private life like my life and stuff like that," Lovato said. "And my friends and family and everything like that, I like to keep very sacred.”
