Don’t blame the Lifetime network for giving Jennifer Love Hewitt a breast reduction in advertisements for her new series “The Client List”.

Sources tell Fox411.com that the network had nothing to do with editing the “Client List” star’s cleavage out of various magazine ads that ran for the television series this past week.

Apparently, the ads were altered after they were out of the network’s hands in an effort to please advertisers at publications and websites that were none too happy about their products being placed next to Hewitt’s copious cleavage.

Lifetime would not comment on the record.

Jennifer Love Hewitt talks on-camera nudity.

The ad that has everyone talking ran in Entertainment Weekly and other publications this past week. In the original ad the actress, clad in lingerie, is very voluptuous with a very obvious D-cup. In the ad that ran in EW she sports what is likely only B-cup. Not only are her breasts altered to make them appear smaller, but the bra part of Love-Hewitt’s outfit is altered to rise higher on her chest.

“It went from PG-13 to PG,” one ad industry exec snarked to Fox411.

Love-Hewitt herself pointed out the discrepancy between the EW ad and the same exact ad that ran in The Hollywood Reporter.

Jennifer Love Hewitt strips in Lifetime ad.

“Somebody sent me a copy of the photograph, and I was like, ‘Um, what happened?” she said on KRoq radio last week. “I’m not quite sure what’s going on, but apparently somebody wanted me to have a boob reduction. The thing that’s even crazier is that usually when they do that stuff, I had to see the photograph before they went out anywhere, and I never saw a new version of it.”

Calls to Entertainment Weekly were not returned.

Another advertising industry insider tells Fox411 that they found it ironic that magazines were willing to take advertising money for such an explicit ad for such an explicit show that focuses on prostitution, but that a little bit of extra skin had them so offended they chose to digitally alter it.

In the show Love-Hewitt plays a single mom who turns to prostitution to make ends meet.

The 33-year old actress has long touted her ample curves as an asset for her career.

"It's horrible to say, but I like my boobs. They've always served me well. They're good," she recently told Maxim magazine.

Despite only airing this past weekend, the show has received plenty of criticism from those who think it is too racy a subject for basic cable. Responding to those critics, Love-Hewitt told E! Online's Marc Malkin: “"It's a TV show.  They're not offended by Dexter or Nurse Jackie, but they're offended by me giving a happy ending?"
