It was a very sad Christmas for singing sensation Selena Gomez and her family.

The star, who is currently on tour in Latin America, revealed the name of her younger sister lost by her mother to a miscarriage.

The sad news of Gomez’s mom and her miscarriage went public early last week, when Gomez canceled multiple gigs and appearances due to a “family emergency.”

"I can't thank you enough for all of your thoughts and prayers,” Gomez tweeted and facebooked Monday afternoon.

“I love you all so much,” she added.  “We hope you and your family had a beautiful Christmas!"

The message was then signed by Gomez, her mother and stepfather as well as “our guardian angel Scarlett."

A few weeks back, Gomez canceled various shows in Chicago and Seattle upon confirming the news about her mother’s miscarriage as reported by E! Online.

The entertainment site stated the Gomez was in Los Angeles when she first heard the news.

Just last month, Gomez revealed via Twitter that her mother and stepfather, Brian Teefy, were going to have a baby.

“Momma and Brian are finally letting me share the news... My mommys carrying my baby brother or sister :)” Gomez posted on her Twitter account.

“I'm the happiest girl in the world!”

Gomez is still scheduled to celebrate New Year’s Eve along with best friend Demi Lovato.

The two former Disney starlets are set to ring in the new year hosting MTV’s annual Live special in New York City.
