The federal government is moving forward with plans on how to manage the Colorado River after states failed to reach an agreement. The seven Western states that depend on the Colorado River missed a deadline in February to agree on a plan addressing record drought and water shortages. Arizona could see the biggest cuts out of all the states. Yuma, Arizona is the winter lettuce capital of the world and 90 percent of all leafy vegetables in the U.S. The president of the Arizona Farm Bureau, John Boelts, tells FOX farmers can’t plan their crops until they know how much water they’re have access to. The current agreement expires at the end of the year.
