Tropical Storm Beta made landfall on the upper Texas coast late Monday night, with heavy rains creating major flooding problems in the greater Houston area into Tuesday.

The storm, now a tropical depression was located about 15 miles east-northeast of Victoria, Texas around 11 a.m. EDT. Tuesday, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. Beta is expected to bring up to 20 inches of rain for the middle and upper Texas coast, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). A life-threatening storm surge is possible along the coast.

Flooding has been reported in parts of the greater Houston area, leading to dangerous conditions for motorists.
