Clemmensen can't save U.S. vs. Denmark

The United States dropped to 0-2 at the IIHF World Championship following a 2-1 overtime loss against Denmark in preliminary round play at Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.

Stefan Lassen scored 2:04 into overtime, beating goaltender Scott Clemmensen (27 saves).

Denmark took a 1-0 lead in the second period on a goal from Lars Eller. U.S. defenseman Keith Yandle scored on the power play to tie the score after 40 minutes.

Last Friday, the United States lost its opening game to Germany, also a 2-1 loss. Monday's loss marked the first time since 2003 that the U.S. lost its first two games at the tournament. The U.S. has two points playing in Group D. They next play on Wednesday against Finland.
