Last weekend, U2's Bono, one of The New York Times' brand-new columnists, wrote a piece on Frank Sinatra. Rod Dreher of The Dallas Morning News had the audacity to criticize it and call it some of the worst writing he's ever seen. Uh oh. Apparently Dreher hasn't read the memo. No one is allowed to be critical of Bono.

I've been amused by the coverage Bono has received over the years. He is a marketing genius and manages to sort of inoculate himself from any public criticism by criticizing himself first before anybody else can get there.

Until Dreher. And then to be criticized, of all things, for the way he arranges words.

Ouch.
