Clowns And Other Circus Performers Protest In Response To Circus Animal Ban

The city was the latest of several locations in Mexico to put a ban on circus acts with animals. The ban does not include acts with dolphins, bullfighting or traditional Mexican rodeos.

When videographer Steve Winkworth recorded footage of a giant lizard off Isabela Island in the Galapagos, he never would have imagined he’d have inadvertently found the new prince of social media.

The "mini-Godzilla," as the lizard has been called, is jumbo marine iguana, and although most people have only ever caught sight of these creatures on land, Winkworth was fortunate enough to have captured this big guy swimming in the Pacific off Cabo Marshall  on Isabela, according to the Daily Mail.

A vegetarian, this iguana can be seen rushing to the surface and then diving down to the bottom of the sea in search of algae – the staple of its diet.

Iguanas are native to tropical regions of the Americas like Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

They were first discovered and written about in 1768 by Austrian naturalist Josephus Nicolaus Laurenti in his book, "Specimen Medicum."

Iguanas can range in length from five to six feet long, including their tail, and are capable of diving 25 feet deep in the ocean.
