A woman with an itchy ear in China learned the source of her discomfort was an unwelcome visitor: a centipede that had crawled into her ear canal.

The unnamed woman went to the emergency room at Yangzhou Hospital in Jiangsu, an eastern coastal province of China, where doctors found the bug had entered her ear canal, news.com.au reported.

Video shows doctors using tweezers to pull the dead centipede’s body out of the patient’s ear. They killed it using saline solution.

According to news.com.au, centipedes, members of the anthropod family, can be venomous but are not life threatening.
