The Rev. Mark Tanner wanted to make a bold statement outside of his Maine church. He asked his office secretary last Friday to write about the upcoming Patriots-Chiefs game.

“God doesn’t have a favorite team,” said the sign outside of Skowhegan Federated Church, “but the pastor does.”

He then predicted the final score on the sign: Patriots, 37. Chiefs, 31.

That prediction ended up being spot on. The New England Patriots ended up beating the Kansas City Chiefs to win another spot in the Super Bowl.

“I would like to think it was divine intervention,” Tanner, 62, told the Morning Sentinel. “But I’m not that crazy.”

He said he does have a prediction for the Super Bowl
