Eva Mendes shares her first selfie, but it's for a purely unselfish cause

Eva Mendes is socially awkward – at least when it comes to social media, mostly just posting throwback photos of her family or other women she admires.
On Wednesday, the 42-year-old actress tried something new, posting her very first selfie – but it had a twist.
The picture, posted to Instagram, wasn't promoting an event or herself. Instead it was an attempt to raise money for a toddler named Andrew Wilson Wratten who is battling cancer.
“This is my first selfie and it’s for an amazing cause!” Mendes wrote. “Thank you all so much for helping support Andrew Wilson and his family … Together let’s help his family get their son the proper treatment that he needs.”
Mendes is wearing a T-shirt that reads, “Hope and prayers for Andrew Wilson.” She said the T-shirt, which she'll sign, will be given to one person who makes a donation with 48 hours of her posting the image.
The “Hitch” actress also shared a photo of 17-month-old Andrew on her Instagram and Facebook pages.
"This little guy, Andrew Wilson Wratten, is full of smiles, a ball of energy and very special to me," she wrote to accompany the photo. "He has been undergoing treatment for neuroblastoma cancer. His family has spent the last year going through every parent's worst nightmare as they watch their little boy endure grueling treatment, and they need our help."
Fighting cancer is a cause very close to Mendes’ heart: Her brother Carlos is currently battling the disease.
