U.S. Gymnast and Olympic medalist Danell Leyva might be taking his flips and tricks to the Great White Way, New York Post is reporting.
The Cuban-born, Miami-raised athlete wants to give stunt acting a chance and is reportedly in talks to join “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” since he was wowed with the stunts when he saw the production.
“He has designs on one of the nine Spidey roles who do the bulk of the swinging around the theater,” a member of the production crew told the Post, adding that “The ladies of ‘Spider-Man’ are drooling at the possibility.”
The head chiefs of the show seem to welcome the idea of Leyva joining the Spidey family.
“The producers are excited about the idea of Danell joining the show,” the production insider added.
Leyva represented the United States in men’s gymnastics and earned a bronze medal in the Men’s All-Around gymnastics during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
For the 20-year-old athlete, winning a medal meant a lot more than achieving a personal goal after years of hard work.
The men’s gymnastics team was left extremely disappointed after failing to recover from several errors made in the team finals competition.
Proud of his Cuban heritage, Leyva told Fox News Latino one of the exciting parts of being in London was getting to meet the athletes playing for the country of his “roots.”
The athlete’s Cuban roots, as well as gymnastics background, run quite deep since his mother as well as step-father were gymnasts in Cuba.
