Nigeria spokesman says 1 Nigeria Chibok girl refused release

Nigeria's presidential spokesman says one of the girls kidnapped by Boko Haram extremists in 2014 and who was among those who could have been released on Saturday has chosen to stay.

Garba Shehu said Tuesday that the young woman said she was happy with her husband and didn't want to leave him.

The government has published a list naming the 82 Chibok schoolgirls who were freed Saturday in exchange for the release of five Boko Haram commanders.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, which along with the Swiss government helped negotiate the girls' release, says they will be reunited with their families soon.

More than 100 girls of the 276 girls taken from a Chibok boarding school during a mass abduction in 2014 remain missing.
