Police arrest suspected bank robber after exchange of fire

BERLIN – Police say they have arrested a 57-year-old man after an exchange of gunfire during a bank robbery in a southern German city.

They said the suspect attempted to rob a bank in the city of Waldshut, near the Swiss border, on Friday.

The man was injured by gunfire and was receiving first aid.

Police said two employees who had been in another room were able to leave the bank unharmed.
