Authorities in North Las Vegas are baffled after a murder suspect escaped their custody as he was being interrogated in an interview room.
Alonso Perez, 25, was arrested Friday in connection with the murder of 31-year-old Muhammad Robinson on Aug. 27.
The escape took place Sunday. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Perez was able to “turn his handcuffs, break free and escape the building.”
Perez then stole a white 2016 Ford F-250 pickup truck from a nearby business and drove away. The vehicle was recovered Sunday, but Perez is still on the lam.
The family of the man Perez allegedly killed told TV KSNV in Las Vegas, they are furious authorities allowed him to get away.
“I don't understand it at all," said Maggie Robinson, the murder victim's sister. She added, "You don't have any more security than that. You are interviewing a murder suspect, so you mean you couldn't have another person there?"
Robinson claims her brother was murdered for not holding a door for a woman at a local McDonalds.
