Syria's state-run news agency says a suicide bombing outside a bakery in the northern Hassakeh province has killed 10 people and wounded 27.

SANA says the attacker was on a bicycle and detonated his explosives in front of the bakery in the Salihia district on Tuesday, causing extensive material damage.

The predominantly Kurdish-held Hassakeh province has seen frequent bombings and other attacks.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Tuesday's attack.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported the attack, saying an Islamic State militant detonated his explosives outside the bakery. It put the death toll at 16.
