A Kosovo court has decided that a former Serb general, who had illegally crossed the border, should be expelled.

Earlier this month Milovan Bojovic was arrested and sentenced to one month in jail for illegally crossing the border.

Kosovo's Council for the Defense of Human Rights and Freedoms considered him a suspect of war crimes against ethnic Albanian civilians when he had served there until 1999 when NATO bombing stopped Serbia's bloody crackdown against Kosovo Albanian separatists.

However, both police and court officials said such a charge did not exist.

A statement of the Appeals Court Thursday said Bojovic was expelled from Kosovo taking into consideration his attorney's claims, supported by a forensic expert, on Bojovic's memory loss.

In 2008 Kosovo declared independence from Serbia, which has never recognized it.
