Tour company Thomas Cook has cancelled all bookings to Sharm el-Sheikh until November, extending a travel ban that began when the government suspended flights following the crash of a Russian jetliner.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the crash that killed 224 people over the Sinai peninsula shortly after it took off from Sharm el-Sheikh. The IS group said it planted the bomb inside a soda can.

Russia suspended all flights to Egypt in response to the crash and Britain halted flights to Sharm el-Sheikh.

The company extended its cancelled bookings from May 25 to Oct. 31 because it was not clear when Britain's Foreign Office would change travel advice warning people against all but essential travel to the resort.
