Iranian authorities have prevented former reformist President Mohammad Khatami from attending the wedding party of an opposition leader's daughter.

The opposition website Kaleme said Saturday that security agents did not allow Khatami to leave his house to attend the wedding party of the daughter of Mir Hossein Mousavi based on a judicial order.

Mousavi and his wife Zahra Rahnavard have been under house arrest since early 2011 after leading massive street rallies in the aftermath of the disputed 2009 election. The website said the two were also banned from attending the wedding of their daughter.

Iranian hard-liners suffered a major setback in parliamentary elections held last week but still dominate the judiciary and the security services.
