Israel's prime minister says Sweden's foreign minister's call for a probe into the deaths of Palestinian attackers is "absurd" and "unjust."

Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that Margot Wallstrom's comments about the need for inquiry into Israeli "extrajudicial killings" in clashes with Palestinians are an ugly double standard against Israel.

He asked rhetorically whether she would ask for the same of French or American forces who shot dead would-be stabbers.

In his annual address to the foreign media, Netanyahu added: "It's outrageous, it's immoral and it's stupid."

Near-daily Palestinian attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers have killed 24 since mid-September. At least 141 Palestinians have died by Israeli fire. About two-thirds of them are said by Israel to be attackers. The rest were killed in clashes with security personnel.
