Israeli police say one assailant was killed and a second arrested following a stabbing attack that injured three people outside Jerusalem's Old City.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says two people were badly wounded and one moderately injured Wednesday in the attack outside the Jaffa Gate.

Rosenfeld says police shot and killed one assailant and arrested the second. The identity of the assailants is unclear.

Jaffa Gate is a popular spot for tourists visiting Jerusalem's walled Old City.

Since mid-September, a wave of Palestinian stabbing, shooting and vehicular ramming attacks have killed 19 Israelis and an American student. Nearly 120 Palestinians have died by Israeli fire in the same period, including 81 said by Israel to be attackers. The rest have been killed in clashes with Israeli security forces.
