Czech President Milos Zeman has canceled his invitation for the Norwegian ambassador to attend the celebration of a major holiday at the presidential seat.

The move further raises the tension between the two countries over a decision by Norway's child welfare authorities to strip a Czech national of parental rights to her two sons.

The government of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka condemned the decision by Child Protection Service earlier this week and Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek sent a diplomatic note to protest.

The presidential office said Thursday Siri Ellen Sletner is no longer welcomed at the Prague Castle on Oct. 28, the anniversary of the 1918 creation of independent Czechoslovakia.

The government is ready to support the mother's possible complaint at the European Court of Human Rights.
