The long-awaited conclusions of an international investigation into the cause of the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 will be published Oct. 13.

The Dutch Safety Board, which is leading the civil investigation into the plane crash in eastern Ukraine that killed all 298 people on board on July 17, 2014, announced the date Thursday. Relatives of the dead will be informed of the conclusions before the report's publication.

The Boeing 777 is widely believed to have been shot out of the air by a surface-to-air missile. Western authorities have pointed blame at Russian-backed rebels who were fighting Ukrainian forces in the area. Russia has denied that, and blamed the Ukrainian forces, who also denied downing it.

Most victims on the flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur were Dutch.
