The U.S. Geological Survey says a strong earthquake with a 6.4 magnitude has been reported off the coast of Chile.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The quake was reported at about 10:06 p.m. EDT and had a depth of about 6 miles (10 kilometers). It was centered about 55 miles (88 kilometers) northwest of Concepcion, and about 267 miles (430 kilometers) southwest of the capital of Santiago.
