MADRID – The nephew of Spain's King Felipe argued with other teens last week in a line at a Madrid amusement park, but the boy's father is denying claims his son used a racist epithet to denigrate a boy of Asian heritage.
Jaime de Marichalar made the comments Friday about his 16-year-old son Froilan to the digital news publication El Confidencial.
He spoke after Spain's El Economista newspaper cited unnamed witnesses saying Froilan cut in line, was challenged, uttered the slur and bragged he is fourth in line to the throne.
De Marichalar says his son got in a dispute but never "insulted anyone nor said who he is."
He did not address the claim that his son cut in line.
De Marichalar is divorced from Princess Elena, Felipe's sister.
