At least 13 people are reported dead after a train hit a minibus in eastern Ukraine.

News reports say the crash occurred Tuesday near the town of Belaniy, 270 kilometers (170 miles) east of Kiev.

The Interfax news agency cited a statement from the regional prosecutors' office as saying the driver of the small bus apparently ignored a lighted signal at the railroad crossing. Interfax said five injured bus passengers were hospitalized.

The bus driver reportedly was unhurt.
