Somali police say two cars bombs have exploded outside a hotel popular with foreigners in the capital, Mogadishu, wounding at least two people.

Police officer Ahmed Ali said the bombs exploded Wednesday night outside the Jazeera Hotel near Mogadishu's international airport. Police had no more information about the attack.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for it, but the al-Qaida-linked Islamic rebels of al-Shabab frequently stage lethal attacks near the seat of government and at sites popular with foreigners.

The Jazeera Hotel is frequented used by expatriates and government officials.
