A South Carolina man found dead Wednesday on his family farm was gored to death by bulls he had raised since birth, reports said.

Brian Collins, 43, was found by a family member Wednesday morning on his property in Mullins, about 30 miles north of Myrtle Beach, WBTW-TV reported.

"Brian was such a fine, young man," neighbor James Page told the station. "He was in school with our children. He was a fine, young Christian man, a fine boy. He's about as good as they come."

Collins’ brother Wayne told WMBF-TV that Brian was supposed to catch a ride to work with the South Carolina Department of Transportation on Tuesday night, which family members thought explained his absence.

Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson said Collins had been working with the bulls Tuesday night when he was gored and subsequently died from his injuries.

"He was a fine, young Christian man, a fine boy. He's about as good as they come."

Collins, who reared the bulls since they were born, had experience working with the animals since childhood, Wayne Collins told WBTW-TV.

The family declined an autopsy, FOX46 Charlotte reported. The bulls have not been euthanized.
