New documents showed a Kansas toddler who was found encased in concrete after going missing in September was abused before his death.
On Wednesday, probable cause affidavits were issued and showed why police arrested toddler Evan Brewer’s mother, Miranda Miller, and her boyfriend, Stephen Bodine, in connection to his death, KSN.com reported.

The affidavits described photos and videos found by the Wichita Police Department that appeared to show the toddler being abused. Photos showed the toddler “surrounded by concrete walls, his hands bound behind his back and wearing a metal-buckle belt around his neck,” the Wichita Eagle reported.
A video showed Miller “violently spanking Evan for moving while in bed,” KSN reported.
Police also discovered a receipt that showed a trowel, concrete and a rod was purchased in May.
The affidavit also stated Bodine told a sheriff’s office employee that he “was the one who put the kid in the concrete in the laundry room.”

The child’s body was discovered on Sept. 2 by Miller and Bodine's property owner in the concrete structure after he went missing for two days. Police said the man found the concrete block and used a sledgehammer to hit it, finding the toddler's body inside, KWCH reported. The boy’s body was so decomposed medical examiners could not determine the child’s cause of death.
The Department for Children and Families were reportedly called a number of times alleging the toddler was being abused or neglected.
Miller and Bodine were both charged with “first-degree murder” in the toddler’s death Tuesday. They were each being held on $500,000 bond.
