A man in Missouri reportedly asked his rape victim to let him “down a couple beers” before calling the police.

Police responded to the scene in Independence on Saturday after receiving a call from a woman who alleged she was raped by her neighbor while her 3-year-old son was in the apartment, Fox4KC reported.

The woman reportedly told police that Russell L. Burd, 45, knocked on her door around 4 a.m., saying he needed to talk. When she opened the door, she said Burd appeared drunk and upset.

The woman alleged that he showed her three sets of handcuffs and a few pieces of cloth that were hidden behind his back before forcing his way in, unintentionally waking up her sleeping son, Fox4KC reported.

She said he then got on top of her and handcuffed her. During the attack, she alleged Burd told her more than once to, “pretend to enjoy this or I will kill you in front of your son.”

After it was over, Burd reportedly asked the woman wait a bit “before you contact the cops so I can down a couple beers before I go to jail.” He also reportedly said to “tell the cops to watch out for my mother’s ashes.”

Court documents said police found several red marks on the woman’s wrists, which appeared to be from the handcuffs, Fox4KC reported.

Police later arrested Burd and said he did not cooperate with authorities, according to the documents.

Burd was charged with first degree rape, first degree sexual abuse, second degree burglary and third degree kidnapping, Fox4KC reported. He is being held in jail on a $100,000 bond.
