The Latest on a lightning strike that killed one person in Utah: (all times local):

6:15 p.m.

Authorities have identified the 15-year-old girl who was killed and a woman who was hospitalized in critical condition after they were struck by lightning at the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area straddling the Utah-Wyoming border.

Brooklyn Reynolds, 14, and her stepmother, Jayleen Reynolds, 49, both of Utah County, were riding on a personal watercraft on Flaming Gorge Reservoir around noon Friday when their watercraft was hit by lightning. Jayleen Reynolds was driving the personal watercraft.

The teen's father, who has not been identified, was riding on a personal watercraft nearby but was not injured.

Authorities say a 15-year-old girl has died and a woman has been hospitalized in critical condition after they were struck by lightning at the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area straddling the Utah-Wyoming border.

Daggett County sheriff's spokeswoman Susie Potter said the teen and the woman were riding on a personal watercraft on Flaming Gorge Reservoir around noon Friday when their watercraft was hit by lightning.

Potter said the teen died, and the woman, the girlfriend of the teen's father, was injured. The teen's father was riding on a personal watercraft nearby but was not injured.

Officials are not releasing the identities of those involved until family is notified, but Potter said they lived in Utah County.

Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area is about 200 miles east of Salt Lake City.

Officials say one person is dead after being struck by lightning inside a canyon at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area straddling the Utah-Wyoming border.

Daggett County sheriff's spokeswoman Susie Potter told KSL-TV (http://bit.ly/29UakTJ ) that two other people may also be injured by the Friday afternoon lightning stricken and emergency officials were working reach the group.

Potter did not have details whether the people were in the water boating or on the shore when lightning hit.

Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area is about 200 miles east of Salt Lake City.
