A man in Texas was recovering Tuesday after he sailed right off an elaborate backyard water slide while his friend recorded it on video.

David Salmon said he fell 10-15 feet, landing on a rocky cliff, Fox 7 reported. He suffered a broken arm, fractured ribs and cuts on his back.

"Too dang old to be going down water slides," he posted on Facebook. Fortunately, he said he wouldn't need to go through surgery.

The video showed Salmon using his arm to try slowing down as he approached a sharp turn, but it didn't work.

Rescuers reportedly had trouble making it to the slide at the private home near Lake Travis in the Austin area. The slide appeared steep in spots along the hilly terrain.

Salmon was expected to return home to Dallas Tuesday, WCMH reported.

His friend Danny Cummings held the camera but was too far away to save him, WFAA added.

The video first appeared online Monday.
