One person was killed and several others injured after an explosion early Sunday at a Georgia feed mill.

The injured were taken to area hospitals after the blast at JCG Farms in Rockmart, a small town about an hour west of Atlanta, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Rockmart City Manager Jay Ellis told the station fire and rescue crews responded to the scene and were working to turn off utilities to the plant.

The explosion caused significant damage to the plant, the station reported.

The cause was under investigation.

The person who was killed was 24 years old, WSB-TV reported.

Callers reported that they felt the explosion about 2:30 a.m., the station reported.

An online business directory says JCG Farms has revenues of $10 million to $12 million and employs 20 to 49 people.
