CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A North Carolina police captain who evaluates job performance and the decisions officer make is scheduled to continue his testimony in the trial of an officer accused in the fatal shooting of an unarmed black man who was seeking help after a car crash.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Capt. Mike Campagna is set to return to the witness stand Tuesday in the trial of Officer Randall Kerrick.
Campagna testified on Monday about the criteria for when Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers should use force and what levels of force are required for specific situations.
Kerrick, who's charged with voluntary manslaughter in the September 2013 death of former Florida A&M football player Jonathan Ferrell, is suspended without pay from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
