A psychologist for the New York Police Department has been indicted on an attempted murder charge, accused of shooting her husband in the head as he slept.

Kenneth Dearden has alleged in a lawsuit that wife Emily Dearden tried to kill him Nov. 4, 2013, because she was having an affair and wanted to avoid a messy divorce.

She is set to be arraigned next week in Westchester County Court. She remains free on $150,000 bail.

She is also charged with assault and five weapons charges. She has said an intruder came in and knocked her unconscious when her husband was shot.

Her lawyer said Thursday that Emily Dearden denies the charges and is confident of an acquittal.

She was suspended last year from her NYPD job.
