A New Jersey man serving decades behind bars for killing his ex-wife and her lover after finding them naked together in bed has been found dead in his prison cell.

NJ.com reports (http://bit.ly/1bOuKi6) 57-year-old Nicholas Tejeda was found unresponsive late Sunday and pronounced dead a short time later.

Tejeda had been an inmate at East Jersey State Prison in Woodbridge since 2007.

He was sentenced to 40 years in state prison after pleading guilty to the 2004 slayings of his wife and her lover. He admitted making them kneel, facing each other, and then shooting each once in the head.

Last year, an appeals court agreed with a judge who ruled Tejeda's sentence shouldn't be reduced.

The circumstances of his death weren't disclosed. An autopsy will be conducted.
