The trial of a suburban Detroit man who fatally shot a young, unarmed woman on his porch is entering a seventh day of testimony.

Jurors have been hearing defense witnesses for Theodore Wafer, the 55-year-old Dearborn Heights man charged with second-degree murder in the death of Renisha McBride last fall.

Testimony resumes Monday in Wayne County court.

Wafer is claiming self-defense in the 19-year-old's death, but prosecutors say he didn't need to use deadly force to get her away from his home before dawn on Nov. 2.

A former medical examiner, Dr. Werner Spitz, last week said a laceration on McBride's hand shows she may have injured it while pounding on Wafer's door. But the doctor who performed the autopsy found nothing remarkable about the hand.
