Prosecutors say a Massachusetts teenager charged with killing his teacher took off his footwear and crouched down as he stalked a worker at a youth detention facility where he was being held before attacking her.

The prosecutor said Wednesday that 15-year-old Philip Chism made sure he wasn't being watched before choking and beating the 29-year-old woman in a locker room at Metro Youth Services facility in Boston last month.

Chism previously was charged with murder in the October death of Danvers High School teacher Colleen Ritzer after following her to a bathroom.

Chism did not speak in court Wednesday other than to answer "yes" when the judge asked him if he understood a "no contact with witnesses" order.

He didn't enter a plea and was held on $250,000 bail. His lawyer didn't oppose bail.
