Army helicopters from the 101st Airborne will perform a flyover during Sunday’s Super Bowl in East Rutherford, N.J., which will cost taxpayers about $100,000, a Pentagon spokesman said.

Col. Steven Warren, the spokesman, said these flyovers need to be approved and are still technically on a "restricted" status. The Pentagon sees the Super Bowl as a good venue for potential recruiting benefits, he said.

The Pentagon plans on conducting Combat Air Patrol with military fighters around MetLife stadium to enforce the temporary flight restrictions there.
