WEST POINT, N.Y.-- The new campus for the United States Military Academy Preparatory School is set to open next week at West Point.

Officials at the $104 million prep school located on the West Point grounds 50 north of New York City tell the Times Herald-Record of Middletown that the campus isn't finished but they expect construction to be completed by January.

The new campus includes classrooms, a dining hall, an athletic complex and barracks for nearly 250 cadet candidates, who arrive on Monday.

The one-year prep school is for high school graduates and active-duty soldiers who applied to West Point but didn't have the grades for admission.

The opening comes six years after Congress ordered the school's move from its longtime home at Fort Monmouth, N.J., to West Point as part of the federal military base closure and realignment process.
