Sometimes a selfie stick just won’t cut it, especially when all you have to document your travels is an enormous laptop.

Gizmodo spotted the newest craze sweeping a very select portion of the country at the moment.

It’s called a MacBook selfie stick, and it’s nearly as insane as it sounds.

The very sight of the device will garner a wave of nostalgia to when we first heard of people snapping smartphones to a stick so that they could take better self-portraits.

The good news, for the moment, is the following images are all part of an art campaign and not something we will see stretching out from the arms of tourists around the world.

We hope.

If you like to see more, you can head over to the official website of this artistic endeavor: MacBook Selfie Stick.

Apple can thank artists by Moises (Art404), John Yuyi and Tom Galle for its next great idea that we hope never shows up near the Genius Bar at Apple stores.

As best we can tell, this is a way to shed a light once again on the craze that has tourists around the world ducking as they meander past fellow travelers attempting to capture the next great Instagram.

Then again, it may just be a commentary on Apple’s lack of attention to laptop photography. Who can say?

In either case, it bears repeating that the MacBook selfie stick’s older sibling, the regular seflie stick, has caused a great deal of concern across the globe.

Various museums worldwide have even seen fit to abolish their use near their locations.

It wasn’t so long ago that we shook our collective heads at the insanity behind the practice of sticking a phone on a stick.

While it’s an accepted practice now, we rather enjoy offering a new spotlight to remind us all of how ridiculous we look when we try to make technology work for us in the most narcissistic of ways.
