Discover the birthplace of one of Atlanta’s most important figures, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. at the MLK Jr. National Historic Site and Sweet Auburn District. Visit the Ebenezer Baptist Church where the Reverend was pastor and is the final resting place of MLK and his wife.

3…Relieve the Battle of Atlanta at Grant Park
While visiting the city’s oldest park, tour the Cyclorama and relieve the 1864 Battle of Atlanta. Examine Civil War artifacts at the exhibit, which has been on display since 1893. Watch a 14-minute movie about the events that lead to the historic battle and see the world’s largest oil painting featuring scenes from the battle.

Atlanta is home to the world’s largest piece of exposed granite rock and longest running laser show at the highly attended Stone Mountain Park. Ride to the top of the mountain to see the Stone Mountain carving depicting three Confederate heroes, President Jefferson and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson. The relief is the largest of it’s kind measuring at 90 by 190 feet.

The park also hosts various events and festivals throughout the year such as the Indian and Yellow Daisy festivals. End the day with a firework finale at the Laser Spectacular in Mountainvision.
