Apple iPhone 7

Apple removed the headphone jack on its newest iPhone, but our testers report that the sound quality loses nothing with Apple’s new EarPods. The 12.2-megapixel camera is similar to the one on the iPhone 6s, though the 7.2-megapixel front-facing camera has a higher resolution than previous models. (The 2x optical telephoto lens on the 7 Plus provides a better image than the digital zooms found on many phones.) Two speakers provide a sense of stereo separation, although the bottom one—set into the phone’s side—seems to direct the sound away from the listener.

More From Consumer Reports

Fitbit Surge

Easy to operate and loaded with features, this is our top-rated tracker. It has GPS, a real-time heart-rate monitor, and a large touchscreen display for reviewing step count, stairs climbed, and calories burned. It’s also a watch, gets phone and text notifications from Android and iOS smartphones, and lets you control a smartphone’s music playback.

iCoffee RCB100-BC12

The iCoffee’s SteamBrew process spritzes and swirls the grounds as the carafe fills, combining the ease of a drip machine with the rich-tasting results of a French press. It's an uncommon combo that made it the highest-scoring specialty coffee maker in our tests. It’s also one of the few coffee makers that’s fun to watch.

Olympus Stylus TG-4

When waterproof cameras were introduced, they could take nice pictures underwater, but they weren’t as good on dry land. This top-rated Olympus shows how far these devices have come. It can withstand falls from up to 7 feet, is waterproof to 50 feet, and takes good photos (on a par with most point-and-shoots).

Pioneer Woman Vintage Speckle Non-stick 10 pc

Ree Drummond, the Pioneer 64 Woman blogger and Food Network star, lends her name to this porcelain-enamel nonstick cookware set. Cooking evenness and nonstick durability were among the best we tested, and most pieces are relatively lightweight.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8 (32GB)

This 8-inch tablet has an excellent OLED display that’s one of the best our testers have ever seen. Crisp and bright, it provides accurate colors, deeper blacks, and better viewing angles than most other tablets. What’s more, the Galaxy Tab has a fingerprint reader, a preinstalled file manager, an 8-megapixel camera (but no flash), 11 hours of battery life, and the ability to connect to USB storage devices.
