Leak provides sneak peek at HTC 10

New images of HTC's next flagship smartphone have leaked—just before Tuesday's expected unveiling.

A promotional video for the One M10 (or HTC 10) hit YouTube Monday, offering folks a sneak preview of the upcoming device.

HTC teased its next-gen device earlier this year, tweeting a mysterious image and the hashtag #powerof10. Based on previous reports, the M10—internally codenamed "Perfume"—will feature a 5.1-inch QHD AMOLED touch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front shooter, fingerprint scanner, and USB Type-C connector.

It is expected to run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, with HTC Sense 8—which is rumored to be getting its own makeover via a new "Freestyle" layouts for personalized screens, as well as stickers.

There is also a chance the device maker will drop the "M" from its moniker, going from HTC M9 to the more straightforward HTC 10.

But HTC is keeping mum about its smartphone plans; the company declined PCMag's request for comment. It did, however, invite fans to tune into HTC.com tomorrow to "see what we're obsessed about," and will hold press conferences in New York, London, and Taipei.

Previously leaked images showed black-and-white versions of the phone—similar color choices offered in the past, including on the One A9, which this handset is expected to replace.

HTC has a lot riding on its new products: Sagging sales and market share mean it needs a hit. And the fact that it didn't unveil the 10 at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona meant Samsung's Galaxy S7 and LG's G5 took center stage.

HTC's $799 Vive virtual reality headset, meanwhile, is available now to pre-order. The gadget has already attracted some big-name users, including Ikea and BMW.
